Idem is a fine-art printing studio in Paris’s Montparnasse district. It is a place where leading French and international artists cross paths when they come to print editions of their works. A vast atelier allows them to pursue their creative processes and realize their works on-site. Idem also produces prints from digital files. A lithograph, literally a “drawing on stone,” is a printing technique using a plane surface that allows for the creation or reproduction of several copies of an ink or pencil drawing on limestone. It is a technique that harnesses the physical characteristics of water and grease, each of which repels the other.

Paper is fundamental to printing. The works printed by Idem can be found in museums, international expositions and public and private collections.

Like all prints, lithographs have recognized value on the art market that is determined by the popularity of the artist, the quality of their execution and their rarity. Our 8, rue du Cherche-Midi lithograph was printed in a limited edition of only 88 copies, each of which is unique, numbered and signed by the artist.

The two numbers on each print indicate the number of the individual print and the total number of prints in the edition, serving as proof that each lithograph is part of a limited edition.
